The Best Venues in Austin for Large Weddings with Over 200 Guests

Planning a wedding with over 200 guests can be both exhilarating and daunting. I’ve been planning weddings in Central Texas since 2010 and the average size guest list is between 150 and 180. Once you surpass 180 guests there are fewer venue options at your disposal. This is especially true if you have a band because bands take up more space than a DJ. Here is WeddingScout’s list of large wedding venues in Austin, Texas.

Culture has a huge impact on wedding size. In areas of the county that have more Mexican, Persian or Indian weddings, 200 guests is just a starting point! These weddings tend to favor hotels or resorts. Not only do hotels have larger ballrooms, but your guests can stay at the hotel, which makes it easier to transport the guests to other weekend events.

Luckily, when it comes to large venues for weddings, Austin has a decent number of options. Known for live music and events, our city and surrounding area offers more event spaces per capita than other medium-sized cities.

So, whether you’re dreaming of a historic mansion, a rustic barn, or a sleek downtown hotel, this city is brimming with large event venues couples can choose from. Below, we’ve compiled a list of top contenders, each capable of accommodating 200 or more guests comfortably.

1. Bullock Museum

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

The comment I hear most often is that Bullock Museum can accommodate a large guest count, “without being a hotel”. If you come from a large family, you’re likely used to hotel weddings and some couples simply prefer to go off the beaten path. The expansive lobby and galleries, combined with an outdoor plaza, make it a standout venue for big celebrations. Couples love the high ceilings and dramatic architecture.

Pro Tips

Vendors can’t fully set up until the museum closes, which can impact your schedule. It’s common to get ready at a hotel. It’s also most popular for weddings where the ceremony is located off-site at a church, or sometimes at the State Capitol (for those with connections) 🙂

Highlights

  • Cuisine: Choose from a list of two preferred caterers that offer everything from Texas barbecue to elegant plated meals.
  • Location Address: 1800 Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78701
  • Seating Capacity: 200+ guests; see our custom professional layout samples here, when you unlock our all-access pass.
  • Timings: See above notes

2. Etter-Harbin Alumni Center

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

This venue is popular among UT grads, but can be rented by anyone. The ballroom has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a creek, and a unique vaulted ceiling that feels open and airy. The UT Alumni Center has a rustic Texas aesthetic that appeals to those who are open to a barn-style wedding, but decide they prefer the convenience of downtown.

Pro Tips

This is generally considered a budget-friendly venue, but I’ve always dreamed of designing the ballroom with a healthy decor budget. It’s one of those spaces that can be totally transformed with the right vision. The location and high ceilings are incredible.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: In-house catering and bar services (no outside food or catering).
  • Location Address: 2110 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin, TX 78712
  • Seating Capacity: Ideal for 350 with a band.
  • Timings: Flexible booking slots; late-evening extensions are possible with arrangements.

3. Camp Lucy

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

I’ve been planning and designing weddings at Camp Lucy for over a decade and I love sharing my insights with interested couples. There are several event venues on the Camp Lucy property that are ideal for larger weddings: Ian’s Chapel, Sacred Oaks, and The Vineyard. Each can be tailored to comfortably seat 200-plus guests. For larger weddings hosting both ceremony and reception on property, you will want a tent back-up plan if it rains. Log-in with your all-access pass for detailed pricing and layouts!

Pro Tips

Before you book, be sure to lock-in your room block. The venue can host several weddings per weekend and the rooms will be fully booked. You will also want to pre-arrange any brunch or dinner reservations at Tillie’s because the restaurant is also booked well in advance.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: In-house catering and bar services (no outside food or catering)
  • Location Address: 3509 Creek Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620
  • Seating Capacity: 200–300+ depending on the space.
  • Timings: Very flexible, it’s common to get ready onsite.

4. Brodie Homestead

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

Everyone loves the massive sparkling chandeliers and gorgeous wooden ceiling. The venue is an authentic historical site and located close to Downtown Austin. It’s common to set the ceremony facing the rock wall, then move guests to the opposite side of the barn, pull a tall white curtain, and have the catering team flip the ceremony area to dinner tables.

Pro Tips

Honestly, it’s even more magical in person than in the photos, but it is located in a shopping center district. The city of Austin simply grew around it, which is the case for many authentic barns on the outskirts of cities. Be sure to use Google Earth before visiting in person so there are no surprises.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: You may bring your own caterer and BYOB.
  • Location Address: 5211 Brodie Ln, Sunset Valley, TX 78745
  • Seating Capacity: Up to 250 for a seated reception.
  • Timings: 10 hours comes standard. $300/hour for additional time.

5. The Grand Lady

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

I genuinely love this venue and the owners who run the space. The Grand Lady is a historic 1881 estate surrounded by heritage oaks, private gardens, and spacious courtyards. Couples love taking over the mansion in the morning. The ladies typically take over the upstairs and the guys have run downstairs. The new reception hall has a big floor-to-ceiling glass wall and a unique retractable breezeway that is used as a ceremony space when it rains.

Pro Tips

The venue has an easy built-in rain plan for smaller to medium weddings, but be sure to walk through the details of a rain plan when you have more than 200 guests. I would advise a tent backup plan for larger weddings.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: You may bring your own caterer, but you must pick from the venue’s alcohol packages.
  • Location Address: 19704 Hog Eye Rd, Manor, TX 78653
  • Seating Capacity: Over 200, with room to expand indoors and out.
  • Timings: Extended rentals and late-night celebrations are possible.

6. The LINE Hotel

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

The couples who choose The LINE Hotel often point to the location (right at Congress and Town Lake). The views are really pretty and you are just two blocks away from the Four Seasons Hotel Austin, for a fraction of the price.

Pro Tips

The decor is fairly modern throughout the hotel and more traditional or older guests will complain of the low beds, so consider a more traditional hotel option as a second room block.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: In-house catering and bar services.
  • Location Address: 111 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701
  • Seating Capacity: Up to 650 in the biggest spaces; multiple smaller rooms, too.
  • Timings: Flexible; late-night hours available for dancing and revelry.

7. Villa Antonia

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

This venue really does sweep you off your feet when you visit. The views at sunset are incredible and the venue has built-in rain plans if the weather isn’t favorable. It’s a good location for larger weddings because you can save money by bringing in your own caterer.

Pro Tips

If you can afford it, you should really consider bussing your guests. There is ample parking onsite (with a golf cart that transports guests from parking to the venue). However, the roads are dark and winding, so if you expect guests to really let loose, you need to plan for their trip back!

Highlights

  • Cuisine: Open to outside caterers; staff helps with vendor coordination.
  • Location Address: 19039 Adrian Way, Jonestown, TX 78645
  • Seating Capacity: 200–250, mixing terrace and indoor space.
  • Timings: It’s common for the wedding party to get ready onsite.

8. Four Seasons Hotel Austin

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

When it comes to large venues for weddings with a luxury edge, the Four Seasons is iconic. I’ve had several clients book Four Seasons Hotel Austin, even after declaring they don’t want a ballroom wedding! Its location on Town Lake is hard to beat and you can host the ceremony, cocktail reception, and dinner all outside!

Pro Tips

The landscaping is green year-round with high-end faux grass, so consider those off peak dates! One of my favorite weddings here was in early January and it looked like a Spring wedding!

Highlights

  • Cuisine: In-house catering and bar services.
  • Location Address: 98 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin, TX 78701
  • Seating Capacity: Outdoor lawn and multiple ballrooms comfortably hold 200+.
  • Timings: Highly flexible, ideal for weekend-long celebrations.

9. The Mansion

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

An elegant estate just outside downtown, The Mansion features ornate foyers with beautiful lounge furniture and a large ballroom with built-in stage, hardwood floors, and dimmable wall sconces.

Pro Tips

Guests are directed to a nearby parking area and walk to the venue, which isn’t the end of the world, but I’ve always thought valet parking is worth the expense at this venue. The wrap-around front drive is perfect for a valet flow and adds to the elegance of the venue.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: You may bring your own caterer and BYOB.
  • Location Address: 2312 San Gabriel St, Austin, TX 78705
  • Seating Capacity: 275 seated for dinner with a band.
  • Timings: Often full-day rentals; contact for weekend or weeknight specifics.

10. UMLAUF Sculpture Garden

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

The UMLAUF Sculpture Garden offers a tranquil outdoor setting, known for its beautiful downtown landscapes, nationally recognized artwork, and green space preservation. Couples love its location, unique built-in ceremony arbor and romantic water features.

Pro Tips

This venue is really ideal for 180 or less guests, but with the right wedding planner, you can stretch it over 200 by utilizing all the garden spaces. To do this, you will need a tented rain plan.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: You may bring your own caterer and BYOB.
  • Location Address: 605 Azie Morton Rd, Austin, TX 78704
  • Seating Capacity: Around 250 using multiple garden spaces.
  • Timings: Afternoon and evening blocks are available; noise ordinances may limit late hours.

11. Hidden River Ranch

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

This tranquil ranch in Lampasas highlights water views, open fields, and a spacious barn, all primed for hosting over 200 guests. It’s an ideal pick if you want a true Texas ranch experience without giving up modern amenities.

Pro Tips

This venue has one of the best rain plans of any venue on this list. Your guests can move from the ceremony, to the cocktail reception, and then into dinner and dancing without getting wet. Plus, there is no flip needed!

Highlights

  • Cuisine: You may bring your own caterer and BYOB.
  • Location Address: 10715 US-281, Lampasas, TX 76550
  • Seating Capacity: Around 300 total, indoor plus outdoor.
  • Timings: Full-day rentals are standard; arrange after-hours events as needed.

12. The Driskill

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

An Austin icon since the late 1800s, The Driskill’s stained-glass windows and marble accents are stunning in person. Larger weddings rent the mezzanine level, which comes with several suites located on the same floor as the ballroom. As a result, the entire second floor of the hotel feels like it’s exclusively yours!

Pro Tips

The sixth street district can get a little rowdy in the late evenings. If your older guests are not staying at the hotel, be sure to consider how they get back to their hotel at the end of the night!

Highlights

  • Cuisine: Gourmet in-house catering.
  • Location Address: 604 Brazos St, Austin, TX 78701
  • Seating Capacity: Up to 500 in the largest ballroom.
  • Timings: Generally flexible; many couples opt for extended late-night receptions.

13. Omni Barton Creek Resort

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

For a luxurious weekend escape near downtown Austin, Omni Barton Creek Resort delivers rolling hills, upscale ballrooms, and plenty of on-site amenities. Hosting 200 or more is no problem! The sunsets from the ceremony lawn are really incredible.

Pro Tips

There is no doubt that Omni is one of the most expensive venues in Austin. There is a lot of demand for the glass pavilion, and with high demand comes high pricing. Also, be sure to secure a room block when you book, as the hotel can sell-out on peak weekends.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: Upscale dining in-house, plus bar packages.
  • Location Address: 8212 Barton Club Dr, Austin, TX 78735
  • Seating Capacity: 500+ across various ballrooms and terraces.
  • Timings: Extended hours; ideal for multi-day wedding weekends.

14. Fairmont Hotel Austin

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

This hotel offers several ballrooms in addition to an outdoor courtyard on the seventh floor. I love how the outdoor courtyard connects to the ballroom foyer for an indoor-outdoor vibe. It’s rare to get this with downtown hotels.

Pro Tips

This is one of the more affordable hotel weddings in Downtown Austin. If you need a large space with a reasonable F&B minimum, Fairmont is a good place to start.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: Upscale dining in-house, plus bar packages.
  • Location Address: 101 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701
  • Seating Capacity: 500+ across various ballrooms and terraces.
  • Timings: Extended hours; ideal for multi-day wedding weekends.

15. Woodbine Mansion

Why It’s A Favorite Large Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

Two large lush green lawns can accommodate 300 guests for both ceremony, and reception. There is a large losberger tent you can rent directly from the venue, or you can work with a third party company should you need more than one tent on your wedding day.

Pro Tips

The venue provides chairs and tables for 250, so be sure to budget for extra rentals if you’re planning for more than 250 guests.

Highlights

  • Cuisine: Select from list of required caterers.
  • Location Address: 405 E Main St, Round Rock, TX 78664
  • Seating Capacity: 300+ across various outdoor lawns.
  • Timings: 12 hour time block comes standard, option to purchase more time.

Conclusion

When searching for large event venues in Austin to accommodate 200-plus guests, you have a decent amount of options! Whether you’re drawn to the glamour of The Driskill or the rustic allure of Camp Lucy, these large venues for weddings offer both the space and the atmosphere needed for a grand celebration. Many also provide separate or adjacent areas that work wonderfully for rehearsal dinners, ensuring your entire wedding weekend flows smoothly.

With the right spot, even a 200-plus guest list can feel intimate and personal—leaving you free to soak in every magical moment of your big day. Congratulations on taking this exciting step, and happy venue hunting.
